Campaigning

Who is a former Marine, a little league soccer coach, a Republican, a prosecutor, and hopes to serve the people of the state of Michigan as Governor in 2010? Give up? The answer is… Attorney General Mike Cox. A University of Michigan alum, Cox spent both is undergrad and law school years in the fair city of Ann Arbor. Post-graduation, his career began in the Oakland County Prosecutors Office. Then, in 2003, Cox came onto the political scene when he became Attorney General. The Attorney General has spent his time in office fighting utility rate increases and insurance rate hikes for Blue Cross customers. He has also made several improvements, including a redesigned Criminal Division, a Mortgage Fraud unit, and a Child Support Unit that is ranked first in the nation. Cox’s Cyber Safety Initiative, taught to upwards of 400,000 Michigan K-8 students has been given special recognition, and his Internet Crimes Unit has been credited with the arrest of over 200 Internet sex predators. Driven to continue his efforts to “turn Michigan around,” Cox recently announced his candidacy for Governor. As Governor, Cox promises “bold change.” He intends to abolish the 2007 personal income tax increase, significantly cut the Michigan Business Tax, and bring jobs back to the state, among other things. Learn more on his website: http://www.mikecox2010.com. Mike Cox was the speaker at the First Mass Meeting this Fall, so thanks to all who attended and met the Attorney General and heard what he has to say about his post as Attorney General and his vision for the future of Michigan!
